Many people today come to Cape Cod from all around the world to enjoy clam chowder, fried clams, lobster and other treats.

But in June, Molly Galvin Kasakoff and Michael Banghart introduced samples of some favorite cuisines from touring the globe back again to Cape Cod.

“For me, everywhere you go I go is a food items exploration mission,” suggests Kasakoff, co-proprietor with Banghart of the global-delicacies tapas restaurant Abroad, which opened in early June in the Orleans location that housed the Israeli eatery Abba for 18 a long time.

Companions in non-function everyday living and avid tourists, Banghart and Kasakoff labored for many years in Cape dining establishments (he at the former Sol and she at the Beachcomber, both of those in Wellfleet). He is a chef she is co-proprietor and normal supervisor. Abroad is their to start with restaurant with each other.

Caipirinha, the official drink of Brazil, and Negril Sunset, right, are two drink options at Abroad. Many of the restaurant's cocktails have flavors that complement the tapas or small plates.

Spain motivated desire in tapas

The pair suggests spending time in Spain got them quite interested in serving tapas, or little plates, at Overseas so diners could test a number of styles of food. The dishes, mostly from about Asia, are divided into dips, salads, light fare, bowls and skewers, and run among $9 and $14 every single. A number of have cocktails with coordinating flavors.

Whilst traveling in Thailand, they asked around for the best Khao Soi in the location and discovered themselves welcomed by a relatives whose restaurant specialized in the preferred Thai dish. At Overseas, it ($17) is manufactured with Chinese noodles, seared scallops, coconut broth, Thai basil, cilantro, lime and bean sprouts.

“Molly desired to do anything with fresh new Cape Cod seafood but Thai flavors,” Banghart claims.

Israeli, Greek and Peruvian small plates

Abroad presents about two dozen tiny plates, which include baba ghanoush dip with an Israeli recipe  5-spiced tofu from China lamb or chicken souvlaki from Greece and Lomo Saltado, a Peruvian road bowl with beef guidelines, jasmine rice, French fries and tangy sauce.

Mexican street-fashion tacos

The restaurant serves a Mexican avenue-type taco designed with Cochinita Pibi,  braised pork and cabbage slaw. The pork taco — and others including a single with avocado as the key ingredient  —  proved so well known that the owners now hold Taco Tuesdays, incorporating three specific tacos just about every week to all those usually on the menu.
