Remember this past summer, when flight prices skyrocketed as people returned to the skies during the peak summer travel season? I’ve got good news and bad news…

The bad news? You’re sure to see high airfare prices again in summer 2023 – peak summer travel will always see the highest demand, and therefore the highest prices. But here’s the good news: You can still find a flight for next summer without dipping into your savings to do so.

How? Three words: Start looking now.

We’ve been looking ahead to summer 2023 flights since the start of last summer. More importantly, we’ve been finding and sending our Thrifty Traveler Premium+ members dozens of cheap fares and award alerts to lock in a trip for next summer at a bargain.

Whether it’s a lie-flat seat to Dublin or a peak summer adventure to Banff National Park, here are our favorite recent summer 2023 flight deals.

Best Award Space for Summer 2023

When it comes to finding great award tickets, it pays to plan far ahead. If you want any shot at getting a great deal using your points and miles for summer 2023, you should already be on the prowl for the best ways to put them to use.

Or you could let us do the legwork for you. We sent this award alert to Thrifty Traveler Premium+ subscribers just last week, giving subscribers a chance to fly Japan Airlines business class to Tokyo next year.

JAL business class

Thrifty Traveler Premium+ is the only service that sends both award deals to use points & miles as well as cheap domestic and international cash fares! Get it for less with our Big Black Friday sale!

Sure, this deal has the always-popular cherry blossom season in Tokyo. But peak summer fares to a high-demand destination like Japan have been rare since it reopened in October. And flying this comfortably for this cheap is even rarer.

Let’s head the opposite way and cross the Atlantic instead. It’s another incredibly comfortable seat in Aer Lingus business class – there’s no better way to get to Dublin than this. We alerted Thrifty Traveler Premium+ members to wide-open availability for four (or more!) passengers on several routes.

Another stylish transatlantic voyage that cropped up? Flying United Polaris business class for just 45,000 Turkish Miles & Smiles miles from both Chicago (ORD) and Newark (EWR). The best part? Summer 2023 availability into London, when fares are typically sky-high.

Polaris business class

We’re not just talking about business class flights either. For just 48,000 Delta SkyMiles roundtrip, you could fly nonstop from Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) to Reykjavik (KEF) thanks to one of our favorite Delta SkyMiles flash sales! And this isn’t a spring or fall situation, either. We’re talking June flights, including during Iceland’s famous midnight sun.

Cheap Flights for Summer 2023

You don’t have to spend a small fortune just to fly somewhere next summer. Whether you’re saving your miles or just want a cheap fare, here are a few of our favorite peak summer spots to fly for cheap.

We’ll start in Alaska, where peak summer airfare can be tricky to find. But if you time it right, you can get deals under $250 roundtrip to our 49th state.

Cheap flights to Anchorage

Between $215 and $399, you could fly to Alaska – and do it nonstop, in many cases – from June through August to see our nation’s widest state.

But Alaska isn’t for everyone. Maybe you’re a beach-lover or a scuba diver. In either case, Belize is probably already on your list. If it’s not, it should be at these prices.

Cheap flights to Belize

This Denver fare to Belize was part of a great deal featuring more than a dozen U.S. cities. Those peak August fares are in a perfect sweet spot between the height of summer travel season and back-to-school season.

Looking closer to home? Why not fly to Jackson Hole (JAC), an ideal jumping off point to explore both Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park … and book it for less than half the normal cost.

Cheap flights to Jackson

There’s another North American national park that’s also probably on your list: Banff National Park. It’s the kind of place that lives up to the Instagram hype. It actually looks like this.

Cheap flights to Calgary

And with fares ranging from $171 to under $398, peak summer flights to the stunning Banff National Park are still out there. Even now, you could still book peak summer flights to Banff. And if you don’t, I will. (See you there?)

You don’t have to stay in North and Central America to get a good cash fare for peak summer 2023, either. Why not start your trip to Europe in 2023 with a bargain like this?

Cheap flights to Brussels

These peak summer fares to Brussels are the perfect way to start a trip to Belgium or any multi-country jaunt through Europe. And all for around $500 (or less) roundtrip!

Bottom Line

If you wait too long to book your flights for summer 2023, you’ll end up paying for it. But if you start looking and booking cheap summer 2023 flights right now, you have a ton of great options.

Make sure you’re subscribed to Thrifty Traveler Premium+ and get all the best summer 2023 flight deals.
