A lady is arguing with her ex-partner about no matter whether it’s her position to choose his son on family vacation.
She requested Reddit’s “Am I the A******? (AITA)” discussion board to weigh in. She and her ex have a son alongside one another. Her spouse has a different son with the woman he cheated on the Reddit poster with (consequently ending their marriage). When the Reddit poster made the decision to consider her son on holiday vacation, her ex wished to know why she wouldn’t acquire his other son too.
“Alright, so I have a son (13M) with my ex partner,” she described. “We obtained divorced due to the fact he was getting [an] emotional affair which turned physical, and experienced a child with the AP [affair partner] and is a single father atm as the AP still left. My son goes about to his house on weekends, and sometimes his child comes about to my residence for the reason that my son and him are rather mates, and I really do not seriously mind.
“The dilemma now is that I’m organizing on using me and my son to Disney as I have been conserving it up for him as I believe he need to go there at the very least as soon as in his existence to experience it, as perfectly as him possessing superior grades for the total semester. I imagine that my son must’ve informed his 50 percent brother, as my ex spouse known as me and asked me what day I’m arranging to depart and am I driving or him. I was perplexed to begin with, but I understood what he was chatting about and told him that it was just gonna be a trip for me and my son.”
Her ex-partner insisted it was incorrect of her to exclude his son. But she did not concur.
“He commenced to get mad and accused me of favoring my son in excess of his 50 % sibling and trying to be petty for his earlier steps and these types of, and told me I need to [have] at the very least made available for his son to go as well,” she wrote. “I explained to him no, as I wasn’t gonna pay back for a different plane ticket and other supplies, and that if his son wished to go, he wanted to shell out for himself. I [hung] up right before he could say everything else.
“Now my son says that his father was ‘disappointed’ about my choice and to go attempt to ‘change my mind’ so his half sibling could have fun also and some other remarks. My ex and a handful of of my pals who listened to about the problem say I’m TA for not letting his brother go on the vacation as nicely and that I’m getting selfish and petty, so I’m setting up to reconsider all the things and just relenting, so I wished [an] exterior viewpoint.”
Redditors did not consider it was her responsibility to treatment for a youngster that is not hers.
“Only 1 of them is your kid,” a user commented.
“This scenario is ridiculous. He wishes to shirk his responsibilities,” a person commented.
“You are not having an individual else’s kid to Disney and spending,” another wrote.
